Simply put, mummies are a special way to preserve corpses. The word mummy comes from the Arabic word "mamiya", which means wax. Originally, the corpse was covered in wax, hence the name mummy. In ancient Egypt, it was believed that after death, people travel to another world. They believed that at the end of this journey, their bodies should be saved in order to live in the afterlife. And from this idea they began to make mummies. The Egyptians used to mummify not only humans, but also their favorite animals, such as cats and dogs.
Preservation of corpses by mummies was practiced in different parts of the world at different times. Mummification has been practiced for thousands of years in many civilizations, including the Incas, Australian Aborigines, and ancient European civilizations to honor and preserve corpses. However, according to most researchers, the mummy originated in ancient Egypt. However, credible sources suggest that mummy culture was introduced to northern Chile and southern Peru in Chinchera a thousand years before the ancient Egyptian civilization.
You were one in a culture. The idea is that the entire city was somehow mummified. There was no difference between rich and poor.
A priest was tired of being the head of the mummification. He used to wear the Anubish mask on his face. Anubis is the god of death of the Egyptians whose face is like the mouth of a fox. The Egyptians believed that the god Anubis was involved in mummification. So the priests used to wear Anubish masks while making mummies. The process of making a mummy is called mummification.
The whole mummification process can be divided into two parts.
1. Embalm or cleanse the body with care and perfume.
2. Wrap and bury or bury the body with an expensive cloth
Embalmment
1. First the body is taken to a store called "Ibu", which means "place of cleaning". There the embalmers or those involved in the process dip their hands in the fragrant palm wine and wash it with the clear blue water.
2. An embalmer cuts the left side of the body and removes some important organs. This is a very important task. This protects the body from decomposition. Because these organs are the first to rot in a corpse. The stomach, liver, lungs, and intestines are removed, washed, and dried with a natural salt called Natron. But they would leave the heart in the body. Because they believed that this heart is the source of all the knowledge and feelings that will make the corpse enjoy the happiness and comfort of the next life.
3. The brain was broken through a long hook-shaped spoon and the brain was removed through the nose.
4. The whole body is immersed in a type of salt called Natron for 40 days, which absorbs moisture from the body, kills bacteria and other germs, and preserves all the liquids and rags used in the process, which will then be buried with the corpse. .
5. After 406 days, the body is washed with salt. And special oils are applied throughout the body to restore smoothness and increase elasticity.
. Inside the whole dry body, some of the previously dried limbs are wrapped in a canvas and placed in the same place where the body was (4 limbs -
Except stomach, liver, lungs and intestines). Then the body is filled with wood dust, dried leaves and linen cloth and the real life of the corpse is brought back.
. Once again, the essential oil is applied to the entire body. Body shine is restored. The whole process takes between 45 and 55 days. Now the body is completely ready to wrap, but before we move on to that part, let me tell you a few more things. In the mummification process, all the organs are dried in Natron and sent back to the body, but the 4 internal organs are not sent back to the body. These 4 important organs, according to ancient Egyptian belief, protect the 4 sons of the god Horus. The 4 branches that are kept in a wooden or stone container are called "Canopic Jar"; These jars are buried with mummies!
According to ancient Egyptian belief, let's look at the names and limbs of the sons of the god Horus.
